Irem, a Japanese video game developer and publisher, created a range of content for PlayStation Home.

All spaces and items by Irem were closed and/or removed from sale on 29 September 2011.[1] No reason was given for the removal, however, all items previously purchased by users remained available to them until Home's eventual closure in 2015. Some elements of Irem Square and Seaside of Memories, however, were re-released by Granzella, a studio established by former employees of Irem, in their spaces Great Edo of Nippon and Southern Island Hideaway.

Irem Square was the first space released by Irem. Originally a Japanese exclusive space, it was later released in North America in January 2010,[2] and the PAL region in June 2010.[3]

The space was based on a traditional Japanese festival and featured many carnival-style stalls as well as a Shooting Gallery mini-game, with a large selection of rewards available to unlock. There was also the Irem Store stand where players could purchase Japanese themed items and clothing.[3]

Gathering Place for Spelunkers[]

The Gathering Place for Spelunkers, titled Gathering Place for Cave Explorers in North America, was a space released as a tie-in to Irem's PlayStation 3 game Spelunker HD.

Seaside of Memories[]

The final space released by Irem was Seaside of Memories, again firstly in Japan, with a North American release later on the 4 March 2010.[4] A release in the PAL region followed in August 2010.[5]

It was designed as a summer resort with white sandy beaches and three beach huts, one of which housing a swimwear store.[4] It was also the first space to feature underwater swimming, with a number of reward items available to collect from the sea floor, including some hidden in treasure chests.
